Job fair is here and you have found yourself almost well prepared for some interviews. Of course, being a fresh graduates or newly licensed computer analyst makes you wonder where you really want to build your skills and apply your knowledge. During the forensics job openings, grab all the opportunity available and prepare yourself for the worst. But do not panic and choose your field wisely according to your own specialization or your interest.

As an analyst, you can choose your career in criminal justice, information systems or internet security. All of these jobs have different specialization but with common basic skills learned in your training and courses. There are even courses that provide training for certification and with the certificates, they will be useful in selecting your choice of career.

Criminal Justice

If you are a big fan of the movie “Crime Scene Investigation”, then this could probably be your choice. You will get to identify the evidence using software and hardware. You may be able to do the followings:

  • match finger prints
  • zoom the face from the tape from Close Circuit Television
  • identify the pattern of the bones or structure of certain materials from the crime scenes

Information Systems Security

To be taking up this job, although is not as exciting as working at crime scenes you will be exposed to new and old software for information security. You will be responsible in making sure that the information systems in a certain company, or your client company is secured. Your job is also to provide the client company or the company you are working for with information systems at the highest level of security that it may not be cracked or hacked by others except you or your client company.

Internet Security

Internet security will require you to protect the systems from being hacked remotely by others. The best example would be the database of the National Security Agency or FBI that is being hacked as shown in the movies. That is the example of having recorded some lousy computer analysts and you would not want to be that guy. Your job will also include securing the web or database by preventing any virus, Trojan hosts, worm and other harmful bugs affecting the web or database.

There are other more specific job scopes for you to do your search on. Try doing more research and you might find that you have actually chosen the right course for yourself.
